Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings has started up a new pulp line at a greenfield mill in Huanggang city, in China’s central province of Hubei.

The line was kicked into trial production last week, and is presently producing bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp, according to a company executive.

The unit can produce both softwood and hardwood grades, as well as paper-grade chemical pulp and dissolving pulp (DP), depending on market needs.

Its capacity was put at 300,000 tonnes/yr of softwood pulp in its environmental impact assessment report.
