Sanctions on the import of birch and other wood raw materials from Russia led to an increase in the price of paper in the majority of EU countries, however, at present, the such negative effect is being reduced to a minimum, according to recent statements, made by some leading EU analysts in the field of wood and timber.
In recent months, many EU states have been able to find replacements and alternatives to Russian wood, which allowed it to stop further growth of prices and stabilize the market, primarily in the toilet paper segment.
According to most analysts, the latter suffered most from sanctions and the recent energy crisis.
Analysts expect that the EU may completely solve the problem of its dependence on Russia’s raw material supplies in the field of wood and timber already in the first half of next year.
