The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has released preliminary figures for 2018, indicating that Europe’s paper and board production reached 92.2 million tonnes.
„2018 saw new capacities coming on stream but also closures. Combined with the upgrade of existing machines, this translated in a net capacity increase of 1.3 million tonnes,” the industry association said in its report.
The market figures were collected for Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Nor-way, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
CEPI comprises 18 national associations representing some 495 companies which operate more than 900 pulp and paper mills across Europe, according to data from the Brussels-based association.
