Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. has announced a 15-25% price increase for both its printing & writing paper and business communication paper in Japan.
The revised price is effective for shipments on and after the 1st of February 2023.
“Despite our productivity and cost-cutting initiatives, we are not able to continue to absorb this combination of cost pressures due to the rapid drop in the exchange rate as well as the costs of raw materials and energy, which continue to be high and volatile,” the company said in a written statement.
Nippon Paper Industries produces a wide range of products, including newsprint, coated and uncoated paper, paperboard, pulp, lumber, chemicals, and more.
