Production was partly down at the French tissue mill of Italian Lucart Group after a fire. But the machinery was not damaged so operations could be fully resumed after a few days.
Lucart’s tissue mill in Laval-sur-Vologne is fully operational again. A fire hit the site on 1 March, after which production had to be temporarily stopped. According to a company spokesman, one of the two tissue machines at the mill was brought back into operation after some hours while the second machine was restarted on 6 March.
The converting lines had not been stopped and deliveries to customers had continued normally during the downtime, the company said.
The fire broke out in the site’s warehouses. The site’s machinery was reportedly not damaged. However, recovered paper stocks were burnt in the blaze.
The Laval-sur-Vologne mill produces mainly tissue products made from recycled fiber, but also uses virgin fiber as a raw material. The site houses two tissue paper machines with a capacity of 23,000 tpy and 38,000 tpy respectively as well as nine converting lines.
