Mayr-Melnhof to Invest EUR 18 Million in Its Neupack Folding Carton Production Plant in Austria

The Mayr-Melnhof Group announced that it is investing EUR 18 million in its Neupack folding carton production plant at Hirschwang in Austria. The investment is focused on expanding the size of the plant and warehouse, along with installing state-of-the-art equipment.

Mayr-Melnhof explained that alongside the construction of an enlarged production and storage hall, investments are being made in new printing technology, die-cutting capacity, automation, and infrastructure.

Mayr-Melnhof noted that the investment “should significantly increase the international competitiveness of the site in the growth markets of e-commerce packaging and high-quality printed consumer goods packaging in micro flute for products such as food, pet food, and electrical household appliances.”

Neupack, which currently employs 215 people, mainly produces offset-printed folding cartons with a high degree of finishing, as well as packaging made of laminated corrugated board (B, E, and F flute).

In addition, to offset printing, Neupack specializes in finishing with UV colors and coatings, inline applications, relief embossing, and special gluing. These latter are used primarily in the production of bottle packaging such as beer multi-packs and in detergent packaging.

Supplied market segments include detergents, pet food, personal care articles, and food.
